Patient age between 65 and 85 years inclusive
- Presence of arthrosis of the hip joint
- Planned elective implantation of a total hip endoprosthesis
- The patient must have the capacity to give consent
- The patient must be able to participate in the in-house standard aftercare programme following hip replacement
- Pregnancy
- Current malignant disease(s)
- Radiation or chemotherapy in the 6 months prior to study entry (except preoperative radiation to prevent heterotopic ossification)
- Current lymphatic drainage disorders of the lower extremity
- Heart failure NYHA >=4
- History of drug abuse
- Renal insufficiency with a GFR <=30ml/min
- Liver cirrhosis (Child-Pugh C)
- Acute skin florescence and parchment skin that do not allow application of Kinesiology Tape or AV Pulse System
- Perioperative complications and secondary diseases that do not allow participation in the in-house standard follow-up treatment scheme after hip TEP
