Inclusion Criteria
- •(1) Japanese males with mild hypercholesterolemia of at least 20 years and not more than 65 years of age, (2) not undergoing treatment for hyperlipidemia, (3) not undergoing treatment for diabetes, (4) had no subjective symptoms of gout, (5) capable of filling out necessary forms such as self-diagnosis forms, and (6) capable of visiting a designated institution as scheduled.
Exclusion Criteria
- •(1) those who were taking drugs considered to potentially affect test results (e.g., anti-hyperlipidemic agents, anti-diabetic agents, oral corticosteroid formulations, and antihypertensive agents), (2) were regularly consuming foods for specified health uses considered to potentially affect test results, (3) were excessively consuming alcohol, (4) suspected to develop allergic reactions (particularly those allergic to egg and milk), (5) those who were participating in other clinical studies, (6) had a history of serious liver damage, kidney damage, or myocardial infarction, (7) had a history of or currently had hepatitis, and (8) had serious anemia. The candidates who fulfilled the abovementioned criteria then underwent a screening survey.
