Subjects will have impaired glucose tolerance.
They should be aged 18-70 years.
Body mass index should be >25.
They should be otherwise fit and well.
They may have hypertension controlled <140/90 mmHg on one anti-hypertensive agent which will be omitted on the day of the study.

Blood pressure >140/90 mmHg or requiring more than one anti-hypertensive agent to be controlled <140/90 mmHg.
History of ischaemic heart disease or cerebrovascular disease.
Cardiac failure.
Renal failure (GFR <30 ml/min).
Liver impairment (ALT> x2 normal).
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
