Inclusion Criteria
All patients above 18 years with acute pancreatitis
Exclusion Criteria
recurrent acute pancreatitis
Chronic pancreatitis
Patients having other co existing condition which can raise procalcitonin levels (eg other sources of sepsis, major trauma, major surgical intervention, severe burns, prolonged or severe organ perfusion abnomralities, small cell lung cancer or medullary C cell carcinoma of thyroid)
