intraoperative confirmation of a complete mechanical obstruction of the bowel lumen
- patients for whom the suspicion of mechanical bowel obstruction was not confirmed intraoperatively
- chronic bowel adhesions leading to to incomplete stenosis of the bowel, treated by electively scheduled adhesiolysis
- unavailable data regarding postoperative bowel function
- patients receiving non-surgical interventions, such as endoscopic stent placement or percutaneous gastrostomy, as a palliative relief for the intestinal obstruction.
