1- patients aged 25 to 70 years
2- Having at least 12 teeth (regardless of third molars, teeth with orthodontic appliances, crowns, bridges and implants)
3- Diagnosis of moderate to advanced chronic periodontitis
4- having informed consent.
Exclusion criteria:
1- Patients with a contra-indication for surgery or local anesthesia or scaling
2- Systemic disease (eg diabetes mellitus, cancer, AIDS, metabolic bone disease, diseases that delay the healing pockets, previous radiotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment, autoimmune diseases, allergies, infectious diseases, neutropenia, bleeding disorders, Rheumatoid arthritis, bowel disease, lung disease, multiple sclerosis)
3- pregnancy or lactation
4- History of systemic antibiotics use in the past six months
5- History of continuous use of NSAIDS in the past six months
6- scaling and root planning in the past year
7- contagious diseases
8- History of smoking in the past six months
