KNOWLEDGE ATTITUDES AND BELIEFS TOWARDS CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE IN YOUNG ADULTS OF AHMADABAD DISTRICT

NEED OF THE STUDY 

• Today even young adults are more prone to ischemic heart disease (14.7%) due to change in lifestyle and stress according to disease burden survey by public health foundation of India (phfi).
• So now it is necessary to analyze knowledge towards cardiovascular disease and this research may increase the awareness towards cardiovascular disease.
• Therefore the need arises to analyze the knowledge towards cardiovascular disease in young adults of Ahmedabad district.

                       AIM AND OBJECTIVES

• ·       AIM:-

To assess the knowledge towards cardiovascular disease in young adults of Ahmedabad district.

·       OBJECTIVES:-

Ø  To evaluate knowledge of cardiovascular disease through ABCD (Attitudes and beliefs towards cardiovascular disease) risk questionnaire.

Ø  Translation of ABCD risk questionnaire in Gujarati.

Ø Comparison of knowledge towards cardiovascular disease in urban population vs. rural population.

                     METHODOLOGY Â·       METHOD OF COLLECTION OF DATA:-

Ø  Study design:- Observational study

Ø  Sample size:-427 [calculated by pilot study].

Ø  Sample design:-convenient sampling

Ø  Sample Duration:-6 months

Ø  Population Age:-18 to 24 years

Ø Source of data:- Young adults of Ahmedabad city.

·       MATERIALS:-

Ø  Consent form

Ø  Pen

Ø  Paper

Ø  Pencil

Ø  Questionnaire

·       INCLUSION CRITERIA:-

Ø  Young adults(18 to 24 years)(according to Augustan classification)

     ·       EXCLUSION CRITERIA:-

Ø  Illiterate people

Ø  Young adults who are deaf and dumb

Ø  Young adults with neurological impairment

Ø  Young adults with psychiatric disorders

Ø  Young adults who are not willingly to participate

 Â·       OUTCOME MEASURE:-

Ø  ABCD risk Questionnaire{reliability=0.85}

                                                                               PROCEDURE       ·       After ethical approval the subjects will be screened as per inclusion and exclusion criteria.

·       Subjects will be explained about the questionnaire.

·       Written consent form will be signed by subject.

·       The questionnaire will be filled by subjects.

·       Data analysis will be done.
