Inclusion Criteria

a.Patients in the age group of 30-60 years of either sex.

b.Patients suffering from stage I hypertension on the basis of recommendation of 7th Joint National Committee of Hypertension.

c.Patients willing for trial.

Exclusion Criteria

a.All the patients of secondary hypertension.

b.Suffering from endocrinal disorder.

c.Associated with target organ damage.

d.Malignant hypertension.

e.Stage II hypertension i.e.Systolic blood pressure >=160 mmHg

Diastolic blood pressure>= 100 mmHg

f.Any other patient considered unfit for inclusion in trial after investigation.

g.Symptomatic patient with clinical evidence of heart failure.

h.Alcoholics and drug abusers.

i.Patient who have completed participation in any other clinical trial during past 6 months.

Shankhpushpyadi yoga may prove a dependable, cost effective and safe remedy for the management of stage I essential hypertension. <br/ ><br>The present study was conducted on smaller patient samples.Some more studies on larger patient samples needs to be done before reaching final conclusions on effectiveness and safety of Drug formulation. <br/ ><br>Timepoint: Shankhpushpyadi yoga may prove a dependable, cost effective and safe remedy for the management of stage I essential hypertension. <br/ ><br>The present study was conducted on smaller patient samples.Some more studies on larger patient samples needs to be done before reaching final conclusions on effectiveness and safety of Drug formulation. <br/ ><br>

The overall effect of therapy might be due to commulative effect of contents. The drug used are having Vata, Pitta and Kapha shamak properties. Punarnava has a potent diuretic action, whereas some of the contents have direct effect on dissociation of pathological process.(Samprapti Vighatana).Timepoint: No adverse effect of drug was found in any patient. <br/ ><br>The present study was conducted on smaller patient samples.Some <br/ ><br>more studies on larger patient samples needs to be done before reaching <br/ ><br>final conclusions on effectiveness and safety of Drug formulation.
