Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • admitted to KMC hospitals recovering from a recent
  • episode of acute exacerbation of COPD. All of them
  • had Clinical diagnosis of COPD, based on expiratory
  • airflow limitation evidenced by forced expiratory
  • volume 1 second/forced vital capacity percent
  • (FEV1/FVC%) less than 70 and FEV1% predicted
  • less than 80\.16 Self\-report of shortness of breath at
  • rest. At the time of recruitment patients were in stable
  • condition as assessed by stability of blood gas values
  • and hemodynamics. None of the subjects were on

  • Patients who
  • had received Tricyclic antidepressants or other major
  • anti psychotic drugs within the previous two months,
  • Aversion of music as assessed by personal interview,
