main diagnosis: schizophrenic or schizo-affective-disorder (all WHO ICD-10 F20 and F25 diagnosis)
- availability for katamneses (home visit): patients included in the study should live in the catchment areas of the Clinic Weissenau (district Ravensburg and Bodenseekreis), Clinic Ziwefalten and Reutlingen (district Reutlingen, Biberach, Alb-Donau)
- no participation in an medication training program before
- after admission to hospital the length of stay is proposed to last shorter than two weeks
- informed consent was not given
- it is foreseeable, that the patient won't be self-responsible for the medication intake (e.g. assisted living)
- medication only with depot neuroleptics
- discharge before the training lasts at least 12 days

Name Time Method medcation adherence, measured by pill count, serum levels, self-rating<br>Two follow-ups by study nurses were conducted, including taking blood samples for the measurement of the serum level of the antipsychotic medication. The first visit (t1) took place near to discharge from the hospital, the second (t2) four weeks after discharge. The patients were visited at home after a telephone call the day before. Blood samples were taken, pills were counted and the patients were asked to self-assess their medication intake.
