Inclusion Criteria

  • Planned elective surgery (laparoscopic cholecystectomy, open inguinal hernia repair with mesh implantation using Lichtenstein technique, or open inguinal hernia repair without mesh implantation using Shouldice technique); written informed consent

Exclusion Criteria

  • Chronic consumption of analgesics; pregnancy; severe comorbidity (American Society of Anesthesiologists [ASA] grade 4 or 5)
