Background

Torasemide is a high-ceiling loop diuretic. Structurally, it is a pyridine-sulfonylurea used as an antihypertensive agent. Torasemide was first approved for clinical use by the FDA in 1993.

Indication

Torasemide is indicated for the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, renal or hepatic diseases. From this condition, it has been observed that torasemide is very effective in cases of kidney failure.

As well, torasemide is approved to be used as an antihypertensive agent either alone or in combination with other antihypertensives.

Evaluating a multicomponent intervention for managing kidney outcomes among patients

The study evaluates SKOPE intervention strategies against usual care for CKD patients, focusing on effectiveness and cost-efficiency. The intervention includes training health coaches and physicians, hybrid care delivery, and subsidies for SGLT2i. Primary outcomes measure eGFR slope, while secondary outcomes include CVD risk score, quality of life, and guideline-recommended therapies. The trial aims to recruit 896 participants across 5 polyclinics in Singapore.
