- <p><strong>Recommended Dosage and Route of Administration</strong><br>
Route of administrations: intramuscular and deep subcutaneous.<br>
For treatment of deficiency and in the absence of neurological involvement, the usual initial dose is 0.25 mg to 1 mg on alternate days for 1 to 2 weeks, followed by 0.25 mg weekly until the blood count is normal. The maintenance dose of 1 mg monthly is recommended.<br>
In children with uncomplicated pernicious anaemia or defective absorption of Vitamin B<sub>12</sub>, a total of 1000 mcg to 5000 mcg given in divided dose of 100 mcg each over a period of two or more weeks will maintain remission.</p>

Cyanocobalamin preparations are used in the treatment and prevention of vitamin B<sub>12</sub> deficiency.<br>
It is indicated for treatment of pernicious anaemia.</p>

Cyanocobalamin should not be given to patients without first confirming the diagnosis and should not be used to treat megaloblastic anaemia of pregnancy.</p>
