临床上主要用于脓胸、血胸、外科炎症、溃疡、创伤性损伤、瘘管等所产生的局部水肿、血肿、脓肿等，虹膜睫状体炎、急性泪囊炎、视网膜周围炎、眼外伤等。喷雾吸入，用于呼吸道疾病。因对蛇毒蛋白（蛇毒的主要毒成分）有水解作用，故有将本品用于治疗毒蛇咬伤，曾试用于竹叶青、银环蛇、眼镜蛇、蝮蛇等毒蛇的各型病例。
