• Khyber Medical University (KMU) is set to begin clinical trials for a locally developed herbal medicine targeting cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL).
• The six-month trial will assess the herbal ointment's effectiveness against CL in comparison to glucantime injections and photodynamic therapy (PDT).
• The trials will take place in a CL hotspot, likely the Malakand district, to include patients from Bajaur and Mohmand districts, areas with high CL incidence.
