Contraindications

Under **What side-effects may occur?** Do not take if you know you are allergic to any of the ingredients as skin rashes and difficulty in breathing have been reported. Very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000 patients) there is a chance of an allergic reaction to the ingredients. Symptoms of this may include skin rash, itching, difficulty breathing, dizziness or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. If you experience these or any other side effects stop taking the product and consult your doctor immediately.

Indication Information

**What Gaviscon Advance is used for?** This product is used for the relief of heartburn and acid indigestion (also known as dyspepsia). Heartburn and acid indigestion are common and experienced by most people at some time. They may be felt as a burning sensation across the lower part of the chest, a pain spreading from the stomach towards the throat or regurgitation of a sour tasting liquid. Heartburn and acid indigestion often occur during pregnancy, as a result of medical condition such as ‘hiatus hernia’ and “laryngopharyngeal reflux”. It can also be used to relief the symptoms of gastro‐oesophageal reflux during concomitant treatment with or following withdrawal of acid suppressing therapy. Heartburn and acid indigestion can be made worse if you eat fatty or very spicy foods, drink too much alcohol, smoke, wear very tight clothing, are over weight or when you bend forward or lie down.
