FIRE1 System for Remote Heart Failure Monitoring Successfully Implanted in First U.S. Patients

• FIRE1's innovative system for remote heart failure monitoring has been successfully implanted in U.S. patients as part of an Early Feasibility Study. • The study aims to evaluate the FIRE1 System's effectiveness in enhancing outcomes for individuals suffering from heart failure. • The initial implantation occurred at Austin Heart, Texas, with Dr. Kunjan Bhatt leading the study and Dr. Thomas McMinn performing the procedures. • The FIRE1 System offers a novel approach to measuring chronic heart failure, with promising data already gathered from studies conducted outside the U.S.

The FIRE1 System, an innovative solution for remote heart failure monitoring developed by FIRE1, has been successfully implanted in the first U.S. patients as part of an Early Feasibility Study. This study aims to evaluate the system's potential to improve outcomes for individuals with heart failure.
The first implantation took place at Austin Heart, Texas, with Kunjan Bhatt, MD, serving as the Principal Investigator and Thomas McMinn, MD, performing the procedure. According to Dr. Bhatt, the procedures were straightforward, and the patients tolerated them well without complications. He also stated his excitement about the unique insights that the device will provide to improve patient care.
Nir Uriel, MD, National Principal Investigator for the study and Director of Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support programs at New York-Presbyterian, noted that the device may offer a completely new way of measuring chronic heart failure. He added that data gathered outside of the U.S. has been promising, and he looks forward to studying its use in the U.S.

Potential Impact on Heart Failure Management

The FIRE1 System represents a significant advancement in remote monitoring technology for heart failure patients. The device offers a novel approach to measuring chronic heart failure, potentially providing clinicians with more comprehensive and timely data to optimize treatment strategies. The Early Feasibility Study will assess the device's ability to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden of heart failure.
Conor Hanley, CEO and President of FIRE1, expressed his pride in achieving this milestone in the U.S., the largest healthcare market globally. He also thanked the patients and care teams for their faith and dedication in bringing this technology to market. The FIRE1 team is committed to its mission of helping millions of patients living with heart failure to get their normal lives back.

About the FIRE1 System

Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, FIRE1 is focused on developing connected medical device solutions to improve outcomes for people suffering from chronic diseases. The FIRE1 System is designed to provide continuous, real-time monitoring of key physiological parameters relevant to heart failure management. This data can be used to detect early signs of deterioration and enable timely intervention, potentially preventing hospitalizations and improving patient quality of life.
