Cardinal Health has unveiled Navista, a comprehensive alliance program designed to empower community oncology practices to maintain their independence while navigating modern healthcare challenges. The initiative comes at a crucial time when community practices, which treat the majority of U.S. cancer patients, face mounting pressures from declining reimbursements and increasing administrative complexities.
Meeting Critical Industry Challenges
Recent research conducted by Cardinal Health revealed significant challenges facing community oncology practices. Nearly half (48%) of surveyed practices identified system complexity navigation as a primary challenge, while 72% emphasized the need for advanced technology solutions. The study also highlighted that 74% of practices value transparency, and 56% prioritize autonomy in decision-making when considering network partnerships.
"We believe in the power of community oncology practices to support patients through their cancer journeys, and we believe that these practices need the same exceptional level of support that they provide to patients," explained Dan Duran, General Manager of Navista.
Innovative Solutions for Practice Independence
Navista's platform offers several key advantages:
- Flexible commitment terms and engagement models
- AI-enabled medical scribing services
- Access to advanced technology at affordable rates
- Value-based care navigation support
- Merit Incentive Payment System (MIPS) improvement tools
The alliance's AI-driven innovations particularly stand out, with medical scribing services that can save physicians several hours per day, allowing more time for patient care.
Early Adoption and Impact
The program has already gained significant traction, with more than 50 community-based practice sites joining across 10 states, representing over 100 healthcare providers. Among these is California Cancer Associates for Research & Excellence (cCARE), the largest private oncology practice in California.
Dr. Jedidiah Monson, founding partner and president of cCARE, emphasized the alliance's value: "By joining Navista, cCARE can access the advanced services and technology we need to remain focused on providing high-quality, lower-cost, patient-centered cancer care while staying independent – for the good of our patients, practice and communities."
Collaborative Future for Community Oncology
Navista's approach extends beyond immediate operational support. Member practices can actively participate in shaping the future of clinical decision support tools and patient engagement programs. The alliance facilitates peer idea exchange and provides opportunities for involvement in innovation and governance committees.
"We believe that the future of community oncology belongs in the hands of its practitioners, and Navista gives community practices the tools and technology they need to collaboratively build a thriving future, together," stated Duran.
