Nevada Health Centers (NVHC), in partnership with Javara, is seeking participants for a clinical trial focused on developing a norovirus vaccine. The initiative aims to address the significant public health burden of norovirus, a highly contagious virus causing gastroenteritis. The trial is currently being conducted at the Sierra Nevada Health Center in Carson City, with plans to expand to other NVHC facilities throughout Nevada.
NVHC and Javara initiated their collaboration in 2023 to bring clinical research opportunities to Nevadans. To date, NVHC has been presented with seven trial opportunities, with the norovirus vaccine study and a cardiovascular disease study currently active.
Individuals interested in participating in the norovirus vaccine study will undergo a pre-screening process to determine their eligibility. There is no cost to participate, and participants will be compensated for their time and travel expenses. Those interested can contact Jason Elenberger at jason.elenberger@javararesearch.com or call 775-200-9775 for more information.
Participation in clinical trials offers several potential benefits, including access to new treatments before they are widely available and expert care from clinical trial providers. Furthermore, participation supports medical advances and enables researchers to find new ways to prevent, detect, and treat diseases like norovirus.
