UCB Pharmaceuticals has unveiled a comprehensive patient support initiative called Bimzelx Navigate, designed to address the multifaceted challenges patients face when accessing and maintaining their prescribed treatment regimen.
The program introduces several key components aimed at breaking down barriers to treatment access. At its core, the Bimzelx Navigate bridge program enables commercially insured patients facing coverage delays to receive bimekizumab-bkzx at $15 per dose for up to two years or until commercial coverage approval.
"We recognized that to meet the needs of patients, it's necessary not only to bring a therapy to market and market that therapy to the community, but also to meet the more holistic needs that patients may have," explains Dr. Jeffrey Stark, Vice President and Head of Medical Immunology at UCB.
Financial Support and Access Solutions
For patients with approved commercial insurance coverage, the program offers a copay assistance initiative reducing out-of-pocket costs to as little as $5 per dose. This feature specifically targets individuals who might otherwise struggle with medication affordability despite having insurance coverage.
Personalized Navigation Support
A standout feature of the program is its nurse navigator component, providing patients with a dedicated point of contact for various non-medical support needs. These navigators assist with:
- Insurance coverage inquiries
- Injection training coordination
- Financial assistance guidance
- Emotional support and resource connection
"We've been really happy to see that going well and to hear positive stories from the nurse navigator program," notes Dr. Stark, emphasizing that medical decisions remain firmly in the hands of treating physicians.
Digital Engagement Platform
Complementing the human support elements, the Bimzelx Navigate program includes a digital patient portal offering:
- Educational resources
- Medication dosing reminders
- Shipment tracking capabilities
- Treatment management tools
This comprehensive approach reflects UCB's commitment to empowering patients with both practical and supportive resources throughout their treatment journey. The program represents a significant step forward in addressing the complex challenges patients face beyond the simple provision of medication.
