Amneal Completes Kashiv Acquisition, Building an Integrated Global Biosimilars Platform

Amneal Pharmaceuticals has completed its acquisition of Kashiv BioSciences (search), creating a fully integrated global biosimilars platform with capabilities spanning research, development, manufacturing and commercialization. The combination brings together Kashiv's biologics research, development and manufacturing capabilities with Amneal's commercial scale, and is expected to establish biosimilars as a major long-term growth pillar within the company's Affordable Medicines business.
The acquisition provides Amneal access to the global biosimilars opportunity, with more than $300 billion in projected biologics loss of exclusivity over the next decade. The combined portfolio is expected to support a consistent cadence of biosimilar launches over the coming years.

An End-to-End Biosimilar Platform
Kashiv adds development and manufacturing capabilities to Amneal's existing commercialization platform. Bringing those functions together is intended to support a steadier biosimilar launch cadence and advance the combined pipeline. The acquisition builds on a relationship between Amneal and Kashiv that spans more than a decade, and integration activities are already underway, with the companies focused on combining their development and manufacturing capabilities and advancing Kashiv's biosimilar pipeline.
The transaction is expected to strengthen Amneal's position in the rapidly expanding biosimilars market by providing an end-to-end platform capable of developing, manufacturing and commercializing multiple biosimilar products globally.
Targeting a Large Biologics Opportunity
Amneal cites more than $300 billion of projected global biologics loss-of-exclusivity opportunities over the next decade. The Kashiv transaction is designed to position the company to pursue that market with a broader, integrated platform.
Competition in the biosimilars space is active. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (search) said in July that it was expanding its biosimilars portfolio through the European launch of Ahzantive and a collaboration on a proposed biosimilar to Ocrevus. Alvotech is also advancing multiple candidates, having resubmitted U.S. biologics license applications in June for proposed biosimilars to Simponi and Simponi Aria, as well as Eylea, underscoring the development pace in this market.
Pairing the Deal With Existing Launches
Amneal is not starting from scratch. A biosimilar to Novartis' Xolair remains under review, with a potential launch expected by the end of 2026 if approved. Approval of that product would bring Amneal's U.S. biosimilar portfolio to six products. Amneal expects 20 to 30 new Affordable Medicines launches each year, with complex products playing an important role in that broader cadence.
Execution Risk and Financial Context
The growth opportunity comes with execution risk. Amneal must integrate Kashiv's development and manufacturing operations while continuing to advance the biosimilar pipeline and meet demanding regulatory and production requirements. Approval delays, complete response letters or slower-than-expected market adoption could weigh on growth projections. Complex products, including biosimilars, face greater development complexity, stricter manufacturing requirements and rigorous FDA scrutiny.
Biosimilars add another growth avenue alongside complex generics, specialty medicines and injectables. Total net revenues were $3.0 billion in fiscal 2025, up 8% year over year. Affordable Medicines contributed $1.7 billion, or 57.8% of total revenues, while Specialty contributed $528.5 million, or 17.5%. AvKARE contributed another $744.7 million, or 24.7% of fiscal 2025 revenues. Amneal's broader portfolio includes approximately 300 complex, specialty and biosimilar medicines.
