Validation Across International Patient Populations
The largest study demonstrates Artera (search)'s MMAI model development using data from over 12,000 patients enrolled in six Phase III clinical trials across the United States, Germany, and Austria. The model effectively stratifies patients by 10-year risk of distant metastasis (search), with 68% of patients classified as low-risk achieving an estimated 10-year distant metastasis-free survival of approximately 95%.

Chemotherapy Benefit Prediction in Node-Negative Patients
The NSABP B-20 trial analysis reveals the model's predictive capabilities for chemotherapy (search) benefit in node-negative, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (search) patients. Among patients aged 50 and older, MMAI high-risk individuals experienced a 52% relative reduction in 10-year distant metastasis (search) with chemotherapy, while MMAI low-risk patients derived no additional benefit from chemotherapy treatment.
Risk Stratification Performance
In the ABCSG 8 trial focusing on postmenopausal patients receiving endocrine therapy (search) only, the MMAI model successfully classified patients into distinct risk groups with corresponding 10-year distant metastasis (search)-free survival rates of approximately 95% for low-risk, 89% for intermediate-risk, and 77% for high-risk patients. The validation confirmed robust performance across clinical subgroups, including lymph node status, tumor grade, histology, and proliferation markers.
Clinical Impact and Accessibility
The technology addresses a significant clinical need, as approximately 1 in 8 women (13%) in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer (search) during their lifetime. Chemotherapy (search) carries well-documented side effects including neuropathy, infection risk, and fertility concerns, particularly for younger women.
