Arvinas Appoints Randy Teel as CEO Following First Successful PROTAC Pivotal Trial
核心洞察
Arvinas has appointed Randy Teel (搜索), Ph.D., as President and CEO, succeeding John Houston (搜索) who is retiring after nine years of leadership.
The leadership transition comes after Arvinas achieved its first-ever successful pivotal trial of a PROTAC degrader, marking a significant milestone for the protein degradation platform.
The company is advancing multiple clinical programs including ARV-102 for neurodegenerative disorders (搜索), ARV-393 for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (搜索), and ARV-806 (搜索) for KRAS G12D (搜索) mutated cancers.
Arvinas, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARVN) announced the appointment of Randy Teel (搜索), Ph.D., as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective February 12, 2026. The leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment for the clinical-stage biotechnology company, following its first-ever successful pivotal trial of a PROTAC (PROteolysis TArgeting Chimera) degrader.
Dr. Teel, who previously served as Arvinas' Chief Business Officer, succeeds John Houston (搜索), Ph.D., who is retiring after nine years as President and CEO. Houston will continue serving on the board and has entered into a consulting agreement to provide advisory services to the company.
Strategic Leadership Transition
"After a comprehensive search to identify the next leader for Arvinas, we are pleased to announce Randy as President and Chief Executive Officer," said Briggs Morrison (搜索), M.D., Chair of Arvinas' Board of Directors. "Randy brings a strategic vision, a deep understanding of the company's scientific and operational foundation, and an ability to understand and address the priorities of multiple stakeholders."
Dr. Teel joined Arvinas in 2018 and brings 20 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience. He played a critical role in the company's 2018 initial public offering and transition to a public, clinical-stage biotechnology company. As Chief Business Officer, Teel was responsible for corporate strategy, business development, investor relations, and communications.
His previous experience includes serving as Vice President and Head of Strategy at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, where he led long-range planning and partnered with R&D and commercial teams. Prior to Alexion, he was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company (搜索), advising biopharmaceutical clients on commercial, medical, and development issues.
PROTAC Platform Achievements
Under Houston's leadership, Arvinas achieved several significant milestones that established the company as a leader in targeted protein degradation. The company progressed multiple investigational programs into clinical development and reported the first positive pivotal results for a PROTAC degrader. Additionally, Arvinas demonstrated central nervous system pharmacodynamic activity for an orally administered PROTAC.
"Following our first-ever successful pivotal trial of a PROTAC degrader, we're directing our attention to our earlier stage clinical programs and their potential to transform treatment paradigms for patients with serious diseases," said Dr. Teel. "Under John's leadership, we have created the leading PROTAC platform in the industry, consistently generating high-quality candidates and advancing programs with the potential to become transformative treatments for patients."
Robust Clinical Pipeline
Arvinas is currently progressing multiple investigational drugs through clinical development programs. The pipeline includes ARV-102, targeting LRRK2 (搜索) for neurodegenerative disorders (搜索); ARV-393, targeting BCL6 for relapsed/refractory non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (搜索); ARV-806 (搜索), targeting KRAS G12D (搜索) for mutated cancers, including pancreatic and colorectal cancers; and vepdegestrant, targeting the estrogen receptor (搜索) for patients with locally advanced or metastatic ER+/HER2- breast cancer (搜索).
Houston noted that the team is approaching several anticipated critical milestones later this year, including important clinical data from the company's LRRK2 (搜索), BCL6 and KRAS G12D (搜索) degraders.
Financial Foundation and Future Outlook
During Houston's tenure, Arvinas raised over $2 billion through private funding, partnerships and strategic collaborations, and follow-on financings. These achievements positioned the company for long-term success in the targeted protein degradation space.
The PROTAC platform is designed to harness the body's natural protein disposal system to selectively and efficiently degrade and remove disease-causing proteins. This approach represents a new class of drugs for treating debilitating and life-threatening diseases.
"I'm proud of all we have accomplished together and confident that Randy will lead Arvinas to new levels of innovation and impact," said Houston. "We have a robust pipeline, and the team is well-positioned under Randy's leadership as we approach several anticipated critical milestones later this year."
