Axon Therapies (search), a clinical-stage medical device company, announced the completion of an oversubscribed $32 million Series A financing round to advance its novel approach to treating heart failure through sympathetic nervous system modulation. The funding round was co-led by new investors Earlybird Venture Capital (search) and Santé Ventures (search), with participation from existing investor Deerfield Management (search) and new investors CD Capital and KOFA Healthcare.
The financing will support Axon's next phase of clinical development, including two double-blinded randomized feasibility studies targeting heart failure patients. The first study will serve as a confirmatory trial for the company's splanchnic ablation therapy in patients with Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF), while the second will be a multi-center study evaluating splanchnic ablation in patients with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF).
Novel Therapeutic Approach Targets Root Cause
Axon's proprietary technology, Splanchnic Ablation for Volume Management (SAVM), addresses overactivity in the sympathetic nervous system, which represents a key mechanism that worsens heart failure progression. The company's Satera™ Ablation System delivers this therapy through a catheter-based, implant-free procedure designed to slow disease progression and improve patient quality of life.

The clinical development program supported by this funding aims to establish the foundation for pivotal trials of the SAVM approach. Concurrent with the funding announcement, Axon Therapies (search) established a new European headquarters, Axon Vascular Europe Ltd, in the United Kingdom.
