The multicenter study demonstrated that the novel IOL met all primary efficacy and safety endpoints while delivering superior visual performance compared to traditional monofocal lenses in cataract (搜索) surgery patients.
Clinical Trial Design and Methodology
The prospective, masked, controlled trial randomized 501 cataract (搜索) patients into two groups across multiple centers. The study group (n=332) received bilateral implantation of the enVista Envy (搜索) IOL, while the control group (n=169) received the enVista monofocal IOL (搜索) (MX60E). Primary efficacy endpoints included monocular corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA, 4m), distance-corrected intermediate visual acuity (DCIVA, 66cm), and distance-corrected near visual acuity (DCNVA, 40cm).
Investigators also measured binocular visual acuity parameters including DCIVA, DCNVA, uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), and uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) during the postoperative period from day 120-180. Primary safety endpoints encompassed adverse events, serious adverse events, and surgical interventions related to the IOL's optical properties throughout the same timeframe.
Superior Visual Outcomes Across All Distances
The study achieved all primary efficacy endpoints, with the enVista Envy (搜索) demonstrating non-inferiority for monocular CDVA and statistical superiority for both monocular DCIVA and DCNVA compared to the monofocal control group. The Envy group showed significantly better performance across all binocular visual acuity measures, including UIVA, DCIVA, UNVA, and DCNVA (all p<0.0001).

The enVista Envy (搜索) demonstrated consistent visual acuity of approximately 0.1 logMAR across the range from -1.50 to -2.50 D. Importantly, the difference in mesopic contrast sensitivity without glare between the two groups was less than the minimum detectable difference of 0.15 logCS, indicating comparable contrast sensitivity performance.
The study met all primary safety endpoints with no treatment-emergent serious adverse events related to the study lens, no secondary surgical interventions due to the lens's optical properties, and no cumulative or persistent adverse events. This favorable safety profile supports the lens's clinical viability for widespread use in cataract (搜索) surgery.
