Einstein Hospital Israelita (search) becomes the first international member of the CTMC (search) Network Alliance, bringing together two leading institutions in cell therapy development and clinical application. Einstein Hospital holds the distinction of being the top-ranked hospital in Latin America and ranks 22nd globally according to Newsweek magazine. The hospital was the first in Latin America to provide CAR-T (search) (chimeric antigen receptors) and CAR NK (search) (natural killer) cell therapies to patients, establishing its leadership position in the region's cell therapy landscape.
Clinical Expertise and Research Focus
The partnership leverages the expertise of Dr. Lucila Kerbauy, a hematologist at Einstein who completed her fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Kerbauy specialized in immunotherapy using enhanced NK cells derived from umbilical cord blood and has brought this expertise back to Brazil to expand access to life-saving treatments and accelerate translational research in TIL therapy with CTMC (search).
Einstein is already actively working in cell therapy, offering CAR-T (search) therapy for certain types of hematologic cancers, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The hospital also conducts cell therapy applications in ophthalmology and neurology, while pursuing various studies in orthopedics, neurology, and rheumatology.
