The funding will support Exobiosphere (search)'s operations, commercial expansion, international business development, and marketing, while helping the company scale its orbital high-throughput screening platform. According to the company, the platform can run more than 2,000 automated experiments per mission for pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and research institutions.
Exobiosphere (search) leverages microgravity as an environment for drug discovery, biomedical research, disease modelling, and phenotyping. The platform is intended to let partners test biological systems in orbit and accelerate the search for treatments.
The JEI scheme is designed for young, R&D-intensive companies and can co-finance up to 70% of estimated financing requirements over a maximum of three years, subject to a €1 million cap.
