Strategic Leadership Addition
McElheny brings more than 15 years of experience in corporate development and alliance management at biopharma companies, with a proven track record in licensing, strategic partnerships, and preclinical collaborations. His appointment is designed to accelerate the development and commercialization of Humacyte's broad regenerative medicine pipeline.

Proven Track Record in High-Value Transactions
Prior to joining Humacyte, McElheny served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Alliance Management at Clearside Biomedical (搜索), Inc. and as Founder and Vice President of Corporate Development at Vidara Therapeutics (搜索). His experience includes leading the $660 million sale of Vidara Therapeutics and over $250 million in out-licensing transactions at Clearside Biomedical. McElheny holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
Expanding Pipeline Opportunities
McElheny expressed enthusiasm about joining Humacyte during this pivotal period, highlighting the company's diverse pipeline opportunities. Commercial-Stage Platform
Humacyte develops universally implantable, bioengineered human tissues at commercial scale. The company's Biologics License Application for the acellular tissue engineered vessel (ATEV) in the vascular trauma (搜索) indication received FDA approval in December 2024. ATEVs are currently in late-stage clinical trials for other vascular applications, including arteriovenous access for hemodialysis and peripheral artery disease (搜索).
The company's 6mm ATEV for AV access in hemodialysis was the first product candidate to receive the FDA's Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation and has also received FDA Fast Track designation. Additionally, Humacyte's 6mm ATEV for urgent arterial repair following extremity vascular trauma (搜索) and for advanced PAD have both received RMAT designations.
Future Development Programs
Preclinical development is underway for coronary artery bypass grafts, pediatric heart surgery, treatment of type 1 diabetes (搜索), and multiple novel cell and tissue applications. The ATEV has also received priority designation for the treatment of vascular trauma (搜索) by the U.S. Secretary of Defense.
