(Nasdaq: HUMA) has secured a strategic credit facility worth up to $77.5 million with Avenue Venture Opportunities Fund II, L.P., a fund of Avenue Capital Group (搜索), to support the expansion of its bioengineered human tissue platform. The four-year credit agreement includes an initial $40 million tranche that was fully funded at closing, with proceeds primarily used to retire the company's existing debt facility.
The financing structure includes two additional tranches totaling up to $37.5 million, available to Humacyte subject to meeting specific revenue targets, regulatory approvals, liquidity conditions, and lender approvals for the third tranche. This arrangement provides the commercial-stage biotechnology company with flexible, non-dilutive financing to support its growth trajectory.
Strategic Focus on 2026 Milestones
Dale Sander, Chief Financial Officer of Humacyte, highlighted the company's ambitious plans for 2026, stating: "We are looking forward to an exciting 2026, including our plans for expanded use of Symvess (搜索)® within the U.S. and international markets, interim results from our V012 Phase 3 trial in dialysis, and commencement of the first human study of our coronary tissue engineered vessel (CTEV (搜索)) in coronary bypass graft surgery."
The company's Symvess (搜索) product, based on its acellular tissue engineered vessel (ATEV) technology, received FDA approval for vascular trauma (搜索) indication in December 2024. This approval marked a significant milestone for Humacyte's bioengineered tissue platform, which develops universally implantable human tissues designed to treat a wide range of diseases, injuries, and chronic conditions.
Advanced Clinical Pipeline
Humacyte's ATEV technology is currently advancing through late-stage clinical trials for multiple vascular applications, including arteriovenous access for hemodialysis and peripheral artery disease (搜索). The company's 6mm ATEV for AV access in hemodialysis was the first product candidate to receive the FDA's Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation and has also received FDA Fast Track designation.
The ATEV platform has garnered significant regulatory recognition, with RMAT designations for urgent arterial repair following extremity vascular trauma (搜索) and advanced peripheral artery disease (搜索). Additionally, the ATEV received priority designation for vascular trauma treatment from the U.S. Secretary of Defense, underscoring its potential military and civilian applications.
