IBA Acquires Belgian Radiochemistry Pioneer ORA to Strengthen Nuclear Medicine Portfolio
核心洞察
IBA (搜索), the world leader in particle accelerator technology, acquired Belgian radiochemistry company ORA for €15-20 million to expand its nuclear medicine capabilities.
The acquisition combines IBA (搜索)'s cyclotron leadership with ORA's NEPTIS (搜索)® radiopharmaceutical synthesizer technology to create integrated solutions for hospitals and radiopharmacy networks.
This strategic move reinforces IBA (搜索)'s position in precision oncology and complements existing initiatives including PanTera (搜索)'s Ac-225 production and collaborations for At-211 development.
IBA (搜索) (Ion Beam Applications S.A.), the world leader in particle accelerator technology with a preeminent position in nuclear medicine, has acquired ORA, a global trailblazer in radiochemistry based in Belgium, for a total consideration of €15-20 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis. The acquisition was announced on December 19, 2025, and is expected to be immediately accretive to IBA Technologies' revenue and EBITDA.
Strategic Expansion in Nuclear Medicine
This acquisition emphasizes IBA (搜索)'s long-term commitment to the fast-developing and promising field of nuclear medicine. The combination of IBA cyclotron leadership with ORA's cutting-edge technology provides one of the most competitive integrated solutions for hospitals and global radiopharmacy networks looking for high productivity and access to labelling of advanced radioisotopes.
The transaction reinforces IBA (搜索)'s position at the forefront of innovation in precision oncology, enabling better diagnostic capabilities and more personalized patient therapy. According to Charles Kumps, President of IBA RadioPharma Solutions, "ORA's acquisition accelerates our mission to deliver integrated solutions from isotope production to patient-ready therapies, making advanced cancer treatments and diagnostics more accessible worldwide."
NEPTIS® Technology Integration
ORA brings its proprietary NEPTIS (搜索)® technology to the partnership, which consists of fully automated PET radiopharmaceutical synthesizers designed for sterile injectable PET drug product manufacturing. Launched in 2009, the NEPTIS® product family was developed using extensive working knowledge and experience gained in PET manufacturing.
Vincent Tadino, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ORA, who will continue as Chief Technology Officer following the acquisition, stated: "Joining forces with IBA (搜索) opens exciting opportunities to scale our NEPTIS (搜索)® technology and accelerate innovation in radiochemistry. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of PET and therapeutic radiochemistry, ensuring our customers have access to the most advanced and reliable solutions for radiopharmaceutical production."
Complementary Strategic Initiatives
This acquisition complements IBA (搜索)'s existing nuclear medicine strategic initiatives, including the co-founding of PanTera (搜索) for the production of Ac-225, and the shaping of the Accelerate.EU program. The company also maintains ongoing collaboration with Framatome (搜索) to explore opportunities in the production of At-211.
The transaction represents an additional step for IBA (搜索) on its journey to bring innovation in care to patients and to accelerate the translation of innovative nuclear medicine solutions from bench to bedside.
Financial Impact and Funding
Financed through IBA (搜索)'s own funds and existing credit facilities, the acquisition will not have material impact on IBA's 2025 financial guidance or mid-term outlook. The deal is expected to generate revenue synergies beyond the immediate accretive effects on revenue and EBITDA.
