核心洞察
CMS finalizes 48% reimbursement increase for Genio (搜索) hypoglossal nerve (搜索) stimulation procedures, raising hospital outpatient rates to approximately $45,000.
The new 2026 reimbursement rate for ambulatory surgery centers reaches $42,373, reflecting a 58% increase from 2025 levels.
Nyxoah (搜索) simultaneously launches commercial operations in the Netherlands with successful first implants at OLVG West (搜索) and Zuyderland hospitals.
Nyxoah (搜索) SA has received a significant boost for its Genio (搜索) hypoglossal nerve (搜索) stimulation system after the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized substantial reimbursement increases for 2026. The CY2026 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (HOPPS) and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Rule assigns CPT Code 64568, used for all Genio implants, to New Technology Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) 1580.
Substantial Reimbursement Improvements
The new rule raises reimbursement rates for CPT 64568 by 48% from 2025 levels, bringing the rate to roughly $45,000 for hospital outpatient departments. The 2026 reimbursement rate for ASC facilities reaches $42,373, reflecting a 58% increase compared with 2025. These updates cover all CPT 64568 procedures, including Genio (搜索), and are designed to improve the economic viability of adopting this therapy in U.S. outpatient and ambulatory settings.
According to Nyxoah (搜索), the Genio (搜索) single-incision procedure is well-suited for the ASC environment, and the increase in ASC reimbursement rates creates new opportunities for therapy expansion and site-of-service diversification. The significant rate increases reinforce the growing recognition of hypoglossal nerve (搜索) stimulation as a high-value therapy for obstructive sleep apnea (搜索) (OSA).
European Commercial Expansion
Concurrent with the U.S. reimbursement developments, Nyxoah (搜索) announced the commercial launch of its Genio (搜索) system in the Netherlands, marked by successful first implants at OLVG West (搜索) in Amsterdam and Zuyderland Hospital (搜索) in Heerlen.
Dr. Peter van Maanen, ENT surgeon at OLVG West (搜索), commented on the introduction: "Dr. Mayke Hentschel, our sleep department and I are pleased to offer our patients an additional treatment option for OSA when CPAP is not tolerated. With Genio (搜索), patients finally have a real choice. The system stimulates both branches of the nerve, has no internal battery, is full body 1.5 and 3T MRI-compatible, and can be easily upgraded via the external activation chip."
At Zuyderland Hospital (搜索), Dr. Jos Straetmans, ENT surgeon in Heerlen and Sittard, added: "Introducing the Genio (搜索) bilateral neurostimulation system expands our ability to tailor therapy to the needs of each individual patient. Its advantages: no implanted battery, and reliable performance in the supine position make it a valuable addition to our treatment arsenal."
Clinical Development and Regulatory Milestones
The Genio (搜索) system received its European CE Mark in 2019 following the successful completion of the BLAST OSA study. Nyxoah (搜索) subsequently received CE mark approval for the expansion of therapeutic indications to Complete Concentric Collapse (搜索) (CCC) patients following positive outcomes from the BETTER SLEEP study, addressing a patient population currently contraindicated in competitors' therapy.
The company gained FDA approval for Genio (搜索) implants in August 2025 following the successful completion of the DREAM IDE pivotal study. The FDA approval covers a subset of adult patients with moderate to severe OSA with an AHI of greater than or equal to 15 and less than or equal to 65.
Market Impact and Future Outlook
Olivier Taelman, Nyxoah (搜索)'s Chief Executive Officer, stated: "The commercial launch of Genio (搜索) in the Netherlands marks another important step in our European rollout and reflects growing adoption of our bilateral, externally powered Genio therapy. We are proud to partner with leading Dutch centers to bring Genio to patients seeking an effective and patient-centric alternative to CPAP."
The enhanced reimbursement rates are expected to drive broader adoption, increased procedural throughput and expansion across Medicare-heavy institutions. Despite Nyxoah (搜索)'s shares losing 40% year-to-date against the industry's 12.8% gain, the increase in reimbursement rates for Genio (搜索) implants may boost prospects for the company in 2026.
