This includes Stargardt disease (search), retinitis pigmentosa 19 (search) (RP19), and cone-rod dystrophy 3 (search) (CORD3). The FDA previously granted orphan drug designation to OCU410ST in April 2023.
This regulatory milestone supports the potential of OCU410ST as a one-time therapy for life-long treatment of inherited retinal diseases. Stargardt disease (search), the most common form of inherited macular degeneration, affects approximately 1 in 8,000 to 10,000 individuals. Currently, there are limited treatment options available, creating a significant unmet medical need.
