The clinical advancement comes as OPM navigates a challenging financial environment, implementing comprehensive cost reduction measures while seeking strategic partnerships for its pipeline assets. The company reported a net income of €9.8 million for the first half of 2025, primarily attributed to the reintegration of OPM-201 inventory valued at €13 million by an external expert.
Financial Restructuring and Asset Reintegration
OPM's financial position reflects both strategic asset management and operational challenges. The company reintegrated all data and product stocks for OPM-201 from its partnership with Servier, with an independent expert valuation placing the fair value between €13 million and €16.2 million. The company's cash position stood at €2.5 million as of June 30, 2025, compared to €9.6 million in the same period last year. This was subsequently reinforced by €1.1 million in research tax credits received in July 2025. To address funding uncertainties, OPM established a maximum €5 million equity financing line with IRIS, which remains unused.
Operational Cost Management
OPM implemented aggressive cost reduction measures during the first half of 2025, including the layoff of five employees and a 50% reduction in non-salaried corporate officer compensation. The company also froze salaries and bonus payments for the 2024 fiscal year and reduced spending on non-priority programs.
These measures resulted in a €242,000 reduction in payroll costs for the first half of 2025, with a projected €440,000 reduction anticipated for the second half. Subcontracting and fees expenses decreased significantly from €2.9 million in the first half of 2024 to €1.77 million in the corresponding 2025 period.
R&D expenses were reduced by 52% to €1.74 million in the first half of 2025, compared to €3.61 million in the same period last year, as the company focused resources on OPM-101's clinical development.
Pipeline Development and Technology Platforms
OPM's clinical pipeline centers on two kinase inhibitors (search) derived from its Nanocyclix® technology platform, which enables the design of small, highly effective and selective macrocyclic kinase inhibitors. The company's library now contains 12,000 molecules, with artificial intelligence being deployed to accelerate drug candidate discovery while reducing costs.
