Sartorius Unveils Eveo Platform to Transform Cell Therapy Manufacturing with 90% Cost Reduction
核心洞察
Sartorius (搜索) launched the Eveo Cell Therapy Platform, an integrated system designed to address manufacturing bottlenecks that limit patient access to autologous cell therapies like CAR-T (搜索) treatments.
The platform's compact design enables a fourfold increase in production output within existing cleanroom space, allowing a single operator to process eight patient batches simultaneously.
Financial modeling demonstrates the platform can reduce manufacturing costs by approximately 90 percent while enabling production of over 350 doses per year in space that currently yields 100 doses.
Life sciences company Sartorius (搜索) has launched the Eveo Cell Therapy Platform, an integrated manufacturing system designed to overcome critical bottlenecks in autologous cell therapy production that currently limit patient access to transformative treatments such as CAR-T (搜索) therapies. The platform promises to deliver a 90 percent reduction in manufacturing costs while quadrupling production capacity within existing facilities.
Addressing Manufacturing Bottlenecks
The Eveo platform tackles fundamental challenges in cell therapy manufacturing, where around 60 percent of regulatory disruptions are caused by manufacturing and process-related issues. Conventional manufacturing models rely on centralized, purpose-built facilities requiring significant greenfield investment, staff recruitment, training and multi-year build-up phases.
"Cell therapies are redefining medical possibilities. Yet, they remain accessible to only a small share of patients because manufacturing is complex, capacity-constrained and therefore expensive," said René Fáber, member of the Executive Board at Sartorius (搜索). "With our integrated platform, we are tackling these structural bottlenecks head-on."
Integrated Manufacturing Solution
The modular Eveo platform integrates cell selection, activation, gene modification, expansion, wash and concentration, and final formulation into a closed system. The system incorporates various Sartorius (搜索) solutions from critical raw materials to bioreactors and separation technologies, with quality control capabilities including live cell imaging and high throughput flow cytometry.
The platform's compact design supports implementation in existing facilities with existing staff and allows for operation in lower-classification environments while supporting both centralized and decentralized manufacturing models.
Dramatic Production Improvements
Testing with CDMO partner ElevateBio (搜索) demonstrated the platform's real-world applicability, with the system performing in line with design expectations. The multi-parallel configuration enables a single operator to process eight patient batches simultaneously in the same cleanroom space traditionally needed for two batches.
Based on a manufacturing time of approximately seven days per batch and 50 production weeks per year, the Eveo platform enables production of more than 350 doses annually in a footprint that currently yields roughly 100 doses—representing an almost fourfold increase in output.
Commercial Timeline
Sartorius (搜索) plans to begin taking orders for the Eveo Cell Therapy Platform in September 2026, with first deliveries expected in 2027. ElevateBio (搜索) has been designated as a preferred partner and will receive access to one of the first Eveo platforms for use with its manufacturing customers.
The launch strengthens Sartorius (搜索)'s position in the advanced therapies market, building on the company's existing portfolio in bioprocess solutions. In 2025, the Göttingen-based company generated sales revenue of around 3.5 billion euros with more than 14,000 employees serving customers globally.
