When a positive case is identified, the newborn screening laboratory at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (search) in Glasgow will immediately notify a pediatrician. The entire process from initial screening to diagnosis is expected to take less than one week, with families contacted and consultation arrangements made within 48 hours of a positive laboratory test result.
