Tonix Pharmaceuticals (search) Holding Corp. has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has conditionally accepted Tonmya (search)™ as the trade name for its drug candidate TNX-102 SL, aimed at managing fibromyalgia (search). This announcement follows the successful completion of two Phase 3 clinical trials, suggesting Tonmya's potential as a new therapeutic option for the chronic condition affecting an estimated 6 to 12 million adults in the United States. Clinical Trial Success
The conditional acceptance of the Tonmya (search)™ trade name is supported by data from two positive Phase 3 trials, RELIEF and RESILIENT. The RESILIENT trial, completed in December 2023, demonstrated highly statistically significant and clinically meaningful results, with Tonmya™ significantly reducing daily pain compared to placebo (p=0.00005) in participants with fibromyalgia (search). Key secondary endpoints, including improvements in sleep quality, fatigue reduction, and overall fibromyalgia symptom management, also showed statistically significant and clinically meaningful results. Tonmya (search)™ is a patented sublingual tablet formulation of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride designed for daily administration at bedtime. Its proposed mechanism involves improving sleep quality in individuals with fibromyalgia (search). The sublingual administration allows for rapid transmucosal absorption and reduces the production of norcyclobenzaprine, a long half-life active metabolite, by bypassing first-pass hepatic metabolism.
