The company had previously addressed these manufacturing concerns during a Type A meeting with the FDA in September 2025, which focused on resolving the single deficiency identified in the Complete Response Letter received in June 2025. The deficiency was specifically related to the compliance status of the manufacturing vendor, and no additional issues were raised by the FDA during the meeting. Following the CRL, European Union regulatory authorities conducted an inspection of the manufacturing vendor and identified no deficiencies.
Novel Nanoparticle Technology Addresses Treatment Burden
Oxylanthanum carbonate leverages proprietary nanoparticle technology to deliver high phosphate binding potency while reducing the number and size of pills patients must take. This potential best-in-class profile may provide meaningful patient adherence benefits over currently available treatment options due to its lower pill burden requirement.
The drug candidate is being developed through the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway, with the NDA submission package based on data from three clinical studies: a Phase 1 study in healthy volunteers, a bioequivalence study in healthy volunteers, and a tolerability study of OLC in CKD patients on dialysis.
