Japanese scientists developed a sunlight-powered photocatalyst for water splitting to produce hydrogen fuel, aiming for cheaper, sustainable energy. Despite challenges, a 100 m2 reactor showed higher efficiency under natural sunlight, prompting further research for improved photocatalysts and larger reactors to reach practical conversion levels.
