Kenya's Medical Residents Face Burnout Crisis

A study by Aga Khan University found 47.3% of surveyed medical residents in Kenya at high risk of burnout, with female residents and those in paediatrics most affected. Stress sources included departmental conflict, workload, and work-life balance struggles. Burnout was linked to negative coping mechanisms like substance abuse, impacting patient care and safety. Implementing wellness programs and support services is crucial for addressing these issues.
