IISc to Explore Ayurvedic Treatments for Diabetes with ₹52.47 Crore Grant
• The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has received a ₹52.47 crore grant under the Ayurswasthya Yojna to establish a Centre of Excellence in Ayurveda for diabetes and metabolic disorders.
• The Centre will conduct a randomized controlled clinical trial to assess the efficacy of two new ayurvedic formulations, Mustadi Ghana Vati and Varadi Ghana Vati, in treating prediabetes and type II diabetes.
• The research will integrate Ayurveda with modern science, exploring cellular and molecular mechanisms and fingerprinting ayurvedic formulations to identify potential active molecules.
• The initiative aims to provide scientific evidence for ayurvedic approaches, potentially integrating them into mainstream healthcare and improving diabetes treatment.
