Mental and Physical Health Effects of Family Caregiving

Research since the 1980s highlights caregiving's mental and physical health impacts, with many caregivers reporting no strain and positive experiences. However, a subset experiences high strain, leading to depression and health issues. Caregiving demands, especially in dementia care, exacerbate strain. Despite challenges, caregiving can offer psychological benefits and, for some, improved health and longevity.
