The Eric Sorensen Motor Speech Program (ESMSP) was developed in partnership with UCF, JU, and UF to improve services for adults with motor speech disorders. Inspired by patient Eric Sorensen's recovery from a traumatic brain injury, the program was funded by his parents. ESMSP aims to grow into a specialized clinic, starting with virtual and in-person support groups led by Jackie Hurst, who also manages the program. The initiative includes two phases: Phase I focuses on SIMS-trained SLPs providing treatment, and Phase II will study acquired motor speech disorders through intensive services.
