- Shimadzu Corporation has invested in OptQC Inc., a University of Tokyo spinout, through its Shimadzu Future Innovation Fund corporate venture capital arm. - OptQC is developing optical quantum computers that operate at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, reducing energy consumption compared to superconducting systems. - The technology is expected to solve complex computational problems with potential applications in drug discovery, materials development, and semiconductor research. - OptQC was selected for a NEDO project in 2025, and its first system was installed at AIST in July 2026.
- Anbogen Therapeutics and The University of Tokyo entered a Collaborative Research Agreement to evaluate ABT-301 (Imofinostat), a selective Class I HDAC inhibitor, across multiple solid tumor types using veterinary oncology models. - The collaboration will assess ABT-301 as monotherapy and in combination with other agents in osteosarcoma, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, bladder cancers, and other refractory solid tumors. - Naturally occurring canine cancers, particularly osteosarcoma, are clinically and molecularly analogous to human tumors, enabling translational data to inform human indication expansion and trial design. - ABT-301 is currently in a Phase I/II trial combined with anti-PD-1 and anti-VEGF for pMMR/non-MSI-High metastatic colorectal cancer, with the partnership aimed at extending its clinical potential into new indications.
