- The PAINLESS multicenter trial will enroll 450 cancer patients to test home-based transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) for chronic pain management over 15 consecutive days. - Participants will receive either anodal tDCS targeting the primary motor cortex, 10 Hz tACS targeting the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, or sham stimulation in a triple-blind design. - The study combines clinical pain assessment with advanced neurophysiological measures including EEG and quantitative sensory testing to understand treatment mechanisms. - This represents the largest trial to date examining tES for cancer-related pain, potentially offering a non-pharmacological alternative to opioid-based treatments.
