•a) Individuals with healthy periodontium.
•b) Patients with diagnosis of generalized gingivitis.
•c) Patients with diagnosis of generalized stage III grade B periodontitis.
•(Periodontal health, gingivitis and periodontitis definition will be based on the classification of Gingival and Periodontal Diseases as proposed in 2017 World Workshop)
•d) Patients with diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus ( HbA1c < 7 %)
•e) Presence of at least 20 natural teeth.

•a) Patients with any systemic diseases other than Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
•b) Subjects who have undergone periodontal therapy in last six months preceding the start of the study.
•c) Individuals who have history of any antimicrobial or anti- inflammatory therapy in the last six months.
•d) Smokers.
•e) Pregnant, lactating and postmenopausal women.
