A prospective study on the effectiveness of natrum muriaticum in managing depressive disorder assesses using hamilton depression rating sacle-17

INTRODUCTION: Depressive disorder is one of the most prevalent mental health conditions worldwide, characterized by persistent sadness, loss of interest, and impaired daily functioning. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is a leading cause of disability globally, significantly impacting individuals’ quality of life, productivity, and overall well-being.  Natrum muriaticum is frequently prescribed based on the principle of individualization, especially in cases presenting with classical depressive symptoms like grief, sadness, and emotional suppression. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale - 17 (HAM-D-17) is a validated and widely used clinician-administered questionnaire that assesses the severity of depression. It provides a structured method to

objectively evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at reducing depressive symptoms. PROCEDURE: Patients diagnosed with depressive disorder, as per the ICD-10 criteria, will be assessed using the HAM-D-17 scale. After detailed case taking, Natrum muriaticum will be prescribed based on symptom similarity. At each follow-up visit, the assessment will be repeated using the HAM-D-17 scale. OUTCOME : The effectiveness of Natrum muriaticum will be assessed based on improvement in the Depressive Disorder HAM-D - 17 Scale.
