A randomized double arm comparative clinical study to evaluate the efficacy of Ekavimshatika guggulu and Panchatikta ghrita guggulu along with Kasamarda lepa in kitibha kushta vis-a- vis plaque psoriasis

Skin diseases significantly affect quality of life with psoriasis being one of the most common chronic inflammatory skin disorders worldwide. In Ayurveda Kitibha Kushta a type of Kshudra Kushta closely resembles Plaque Psoriasis in its clinical presentation characterized by dryness roughness discoloration and intense itching with predominance of Vata and Kapha dosha along with Ama involvement.

Conventional treatments for psoriasis often provide symptomatic relief but are associated with adverse effects and frequent recurrences creating a need for safer and effective alternative therapies. Ayurveda offers a holistic approach through Deepana Pachana Shodhana and Shamana therapies along with external applications.

This study is a randomized double arm comparative clinical trial designed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of Ekavimshatika Guggulu and Panchatiktaghrita Guggulu both administered internally along with Kasamarda Lepa applied externally in the management of Kitibha Kushta Plaque Psoriasis. A total of 40 patients will be randomly divided into two groups and treated for 30 days with follow up up to 30 days.

Assessment will be carried out using subjective parameters objective clinical signs and PASI score supported by laboratory investigations. The study aims to establish the efficacy safety and comparative effectiveness of these Ayurvedic formulations in managing plaque psoriasis and to provide scientific evidence for their clinical utility.
