简要总结
Incidence of proximal femur fractures is very high. After surgical fixation of fracture rehabilitation for returning to function isvery important, for which different weight bearing recommendations aresuggested by surgeons like, non-weight bearing, toe-touch weight bearing, partial weight bearing and full weight bearing.
It is believed that non-weight bearing joint isunloaded, but any muscular co-contraction unpreventably causes increase injoint contact forces. Due to controversies about advantages and disadvantagesof weight bearing recommendations, there is no consensus among orthopaedicsurgeons about weight bearing restrictions post-operatively.
Hence the study aims to see if muscle contractionwould vary in weight bearing and non-weight bearing standing, hence alteringjoint loading.
For this purpose, peak muscle activity of 4 musclessurrounding hip joint like rectusfemoris, medial hamstrings, gluteus maximus, gluteus medius will be assessedusing surface electromyography in partial weight bearing standing andnon-weight bearing standing position.
