•1.Minimum 20 sound, natural teeth (non-carious). Teeth which were grossly carious, full crown or extensively restored orthodontically banded, abutments or third molars were not included in the tooth count.
•2.Plaque index (Turesky-Gilmore Modification Of Quigley Hein Plaque Index) score of atleast 1.5
•3.Gingival index (Loe and Silness) score of atleast 1.0
•4.Subjects willing to give informed consent and follow the schedule.
•5.Subjects with good systemic health.

•1.Subjects having moderate to severe periodontitis.
•2.Subjects undergoing antibiotic treatment or had it in last one month
•3.Subjects using antimicrobial mouthrinses.
•4.Subjects consuming a high polyphenol diet (including green tea or soya diet),
•5.Subjects wearing appliances, or prostheses (fixed or removable)
•6.Subjects with smoking habit.
•7. Subjects having history of periodontal treatment within last 3 months.
