- To assess the effectiveness of deep puncture treatment in lowering the IOP in POAG patients.
- To assess the effectiveness of deep puncture treatment in improving visual acuity in POAG patients.
- To assess the safety of deep puncture at acupoint Jingming BL1 reaching a depth of 40mm from an angle of 85 degree.

入选标准
- •Study participants will be those who are:
- •of either gender;
- •> 18 and < 80 years of age;
- •diagnosed as POAG according to the diagnostic criteria of POAG used in current ophthalmology practice;
- •not legally blind by the official definition of having central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with corrective lenses, and /or a visual field of 20 degrees or less in the better eye;
- •never before treated with deep acupuncture at acupoint Jingming BL1 for glaucoma.
排除标准
- •will be as follows:
- •Participants with cardiovascular, kidney, liver, or hematopoietic system diseases, mental health disorders, cancer or other severe diseases for whom acupuncture may be inappropriate or unsafe;
- •Participants with other diseases that could interfere with acupuncture treatment, e.g., clotting disorders or leukopenia, active skin infection, epilepsy, or on anticoagulant therapy (aspirin, warfarin etc);
- •Participants with a pacemaker, metal allergy, or severe fear of needles;
- •Women who are pregnant or lactating;
- •Participants who have difficulties in attending the trial (e.g. paralysis, cancer, dementia, drug addiction, time constraints, surgical operation).
